Case study 03, sample
Leaf EV diagnostic.
2017 Nissan Leaf, intermittent no-start, weak 12V system. Three other shops had given up. We found it in 90 minutes.
The job
Owner had a Leaf that would not start one in three mornings. Two previous shops had charged for diagnostics, replaced the 12V battery, and said it was a main-traction battery fault. The dealer had quoted $14,000 for a battery swap.
What we did
- Full Leaf-specific OBD2 scan, no fault codes stored
- Battery health check via Leaf Spy Pro: main-traction battery 84 percent SOH, healthy for age
- 12V system load test: failed. Traced to a corroded ground strap behind the boot trim
- Cleaned and re-bonded ground strap, re-tested, all good
Cost
Total invoice $180. Customer kept the car. Avoided the dealer's $14,000 quote and the wrong fix the previous shops had done.
